Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Kid
Episode 28
Season 2, 1985

Introducing: --

The kids knew when they met Ryan that he was different, but as they take a short break, they realize how different he is. He prefers to spend the break reading…a big book with no pictures…and it’s not for school! GASP!

After they bug him enough, he gives them a sensational summation of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Kid finds the entire thing boring, and since no one is paying attention to him, he dozes off.

While he sleeps, Kids Inc. does a cute visual aid with “Message in a Bottle”. Ryan and Gloria go back to see if Kid’s awake, but since he isn’t, they decide to leave him to dream. Gloria assumes it’s about girls, but after a season of this show, we know better…

Kid finally wakes up, but he isn’t in the storeroom. He’s in a creepy P*lace, being welcomed by Rileystein, muahahaha! Rileystein offers kid an ominous-looking bubbly green drink, promising him “a whole new look at life”. Oh, it’s also chocolate. Naturally, Kid drinks it.

Uh oh…The drink transforms The Kid into the most despicable creature known to man, woman, or beast. He is now The Nerd. Zombie kids and legendary monsters terrorize The Nerd as he attempts to prove that he is not uncool.

Ryan eventually awakens Kid from his nightmare and reassures him that he is not a nerd. He gives kid a lesson and sings him a little tune full of “not what they seem” practical jokes. The girls come back and they tease Kid before they all go off to the last number (this part always seemed lame and tacked-on to me).

I gave this one 5 mics, too. Perhaps I'm being a bit generous, but I think it's cute. Moosie was just over-the-top cute in this one, as was Rahsaan.

Although this is the 7th time we’ve heard the word, now we finally have a definition.

“Did you have a nice sleep?” or words to that effect every time someone is caught dreaming – the irony being that they had anything but “a nice sleep” or “a good snooze”.

- Do you notice Gloria freaking out about something in the audience during "Breakaway"? She points to something or someone before she starts making funny faces.

- For once, a magic trick works! Gloria writes what looks like a much longer message on a piece of paper, and it turns into a fabric banner when Andrea finds it.
